Someone told me to "Get an education and then get saved through Christ. Unbelief is for the uneducated" Huh?

I always thought religious belief was for the uneducated. Who is right?|||Well, considering the ultrareligious have fought every scientific advance thoughout history and persecuted people who've said stuff that counters their beliefs, anyone who suggests unbelief is for the uneducated is talking out of his/her butt.|||It is simply arrogance, arrogance in the belief that the Christian religion is the correct path to follow. If they had followed their advice in educating themselves their statement would have been concluded in a far different manor.

Impossile? - If you are talking to me I would ask you to not be so judgmental in believing me to be Atheist, nor would I ask you to be closed minded in thinking a singular religion holds the key. True, those men were great in the fields they chose, but too much scientific research hinders the path of spirituality, simply because it leaves little time for much else. They found that which they could not explain by logic and assumed, due to the most popular belief of their time, that Christianity must indeed be the path. Being a great scientist doesn't make you a great spiritualist.|||That was me. I'm right. You won't believe the ignorance that comes out of the mouths of unbelievers. They think everything can be explained through science and logic but, in reality, there are unexplainable events, phenomena and mysteries that no amount of science and logic can ever answer. They think they have an answer for everything but, they don't. It's not possible. Look outside of science for answers. Think outside the box. If you let science and logic rule your life then, you miss out on everything else. Learn everything. Don't limit yourself to the closed-minded unbeliever. Look for God. Soul search.|||gee I guess so many of those great men of science that also believed in god must have been morons

thanks for clearing that up

so now please enlighten us with your vast intellect

describe the workings of the Higgs Boson so that you can win the Noble prize for finding the god Particle

CERN and Fermi eagerly await your dissertation. As I eagerly wait as well.

though I am sure there will only be silence from you.|||Your education should be the Holy Bible.

1Cr 1:19 As the Scriptures say, "I will destroy human wisdom and discard their most brilliant ideas."

1Cr 1:20 So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world's brilliant debaters? God has made them all look foolish and has shown their wisdom to be useless nonsense.

1Cr 1:21 Since God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never find him through human wisdom, he has used our foolish preaching to save all who believe.

1Cr 1:22 God's way seems foolish to the Jews because they want a sign from heaven to prove it is true. And it is foolish to the Greeks because they believe only what agrees with their own wisdom.

1Cr 1:23 So when we preach that Christ was crucified, the Jews are offended, and the Gentiles say it's all nonsense.

1Cr 1:24 But to those called by God to salvation, both Jews and Gentiles, [fn] Christ is the mighty power of God and the wonderful wisdom of God.

1Cr 1:25 This "foolish" plan of God is far wiser than the wisest of human plans, and God's weakness is far stronger than the greatest of human strength.

1Cr 1:26 Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were wise in the world's eyes, or powerful, or wealthy when God called you.

1Cr 1:27 Instead, God deliberately chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose those who are powerless to shame those who are powerful.

1Cr 1:28 God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important,

1Cr 1:29 so that no one can ever boast in the presence of God.

1Cr 1:30 God alone made it possible for you to be in Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made Christ to be wisdom itself. He is the one who made us acceptable to God. He made us pure and holy, and he gave himself to purchase our freedom.

1Cr 1:31 As the Scriptures say, "The person who wishes to boast should boast only of what the Lord has done."|||Spiritually speaking, they must be referring to spiritual education, because even the most intelligent people may still be completely ignorant of the new birth. Unbelief comes from an evil heart. See Hebrews 3:12.|||Unbelief eh? What form of education is this, spewing back things you've been told to memorize or learning how to think independently? Where thinking ends, religion begins and vice versa.|||You should have told them that they were an idiot.|||I wish people would get past such petty issues.|||Did they tell you to throw logic and reason out the window, and use faith instead?|||You are, obviously. The answers on this forum "speak for themselves", don't they?|||that person is very wise
