Would it be good that instead of saving for my kids college education I buy them a house?

YES, YES, is the best you can do for them, I am doing the same thing, now people study for years and then is hard for them to find work, on what they study, I once was working for a Doctor, and I was the receptionist, and he said I was better off than him, he was still paying his student loan, and he said, that half of the year 6 months was to pay the irs. the best inheritance is a paid house,, and a car, they will need that always with their own family or not. just give them the advise to not take money out of the house, wow I wish I had a parent like you...All the things that we have we did by ourselves, with no help from our parents, if you do this for your kids, I hope they appreciated.|||No, it wouldn't. Best to save for college for them. Saving usually grows more steadly and doesn't change wildly, like housing does. Also, it teaches them more finacial responiblility. Unless you want your kids to constantly wanting to "borrow" money from you.|||and how are They going to pay for repairs and maintenance, gasoline, mowers, monthly utilities, natural gas, house and car insurance, plus whatever else i am forgetting??

remember the old parable: "if you give someone 3 fish they can eat for a day, but if you teach them how to fish they can feed themselves for a lifetime"... All you are doing is buying the fishing pole and baiting the hook; they won't know what to do with it.....|||Most people would probably say that education is the most important... with that, they could buy their own house. I disagree.. I would rather my parents to buy me a house than pay for school because its so easy to apply for financial aid these days and everyone works to buy a house!|||The college education expense is tax deductible. Buying them a house is not tax deductible to you and will fall under Gift Tax laws to your kids. They will have to pay income taxes on every cent over $13,000 in the value of the house.|||Not in my opinion.

If you contribute toward their college education, they'll be in a position to buy themselves a lifetime of nice houses.|||No. a college education is infinitely more valuable.
