I am president of my school's student council and therefore have been charged directly by the SCHOOL BOARD to come up with insightful, creative though above all attainable and effective means of saving money in my county's flailing education budget. So far my first idea is to use the wasted space on my school property for the growth of citrus products. This will improve my school's "green" image as well as provide a healthy alternative for students and reduce the money spent on cafeteria food items. any other ideas?|||Sharing busing with other school boards when possible.
Making kids that live within a certain distance from the school walk.
If there is a lot of space, I know of one grade school that converted their downstairs into a daycare.
Renting out the gym of the school at night for sports or community events.
Here's an unlikely one: see if there are too many people on the school board and in the higher ups in the education system; and another would be merging school boards that cover the same area.
Getting students and staff to volunteer to clean off graffiti, clear trash, and make minor repairs; when some people see a run down place they are more likely to add to the vandalism.
For any extracurricular trips, have the students fund raise for the entire amount - selling things, car washes, raffles, whatever.
